The Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce in New York will host a panel discussion about litigation in Brazil.
Litigation in Brazil can be costly, confusing, and time consuming. The new Code of Civil Procedure, implemented three years ago, was intended to simplify and shorten the duration of judicial proceedings. Despite the new code, not much has changed for those who need to litigate in Brazil.
The panel will bring experts in the topic, who will provide an overview of Brazil’s current judicial system, with emphasis on civil and tax litigation. The panel will highlight key legal issues facing companies and investors, and the practical realities of 
managing litigation and resolving disputes in Brazil’s complex legal system. Panelists will address frequently-asked questions, recent trends, potential pitfalls, and alternatives to litigation, particularly as these issues may apply to foreign investors.
Scott Wilson, from Boies Schiller Flexner LLP will moderate the panel, which will have the participation of the following speakers: Glaucia Lauletta Frascino and Fernando Neustein, from Mattos Filho, Veiga Filho, Marrey Jr. e Quiroga Advogados; Gavin Parrish, from FTI Consulting, Inc; and Mark Perla, from Pfizer.
The event, called “Litigation in Brazil: Explaining a Complicated System” will take place on June 13th, 2018 from 8:00am to 10:30am at 485 Madison Avenue, Suite 401, New York City. For Chamber’s corporate members the event is free; for non-members, it costs $50.00.
