Slicebooks, an innovative provider of publishing tools and white label stores, announced a deal to expand its partnership with Minha Biblioteca in Brazil by licensing its Slicebooks source code. Slicebooks will also provide managed services and custom development support. By licensing the code, Minha Biblioteca will be able to develop new features specific to the Brazilian market, and give Brazilian publishers the ability to sell ebook content in chunks like chapters & articles, and create curated course packs by mixing & matching micro content.
Minha Biblioteca is a consortium formed by the four leading publishers of academic books in Brazil – Group A, Gen Group – Atlas, Manole and Saraiva. The retail site, loja.pastadoprofessor.com.br, will launch more than 2,500 eBooks and nearly 60,000 chapters covering quality legal, medical, technical and scientific content. All content is available by the whole book and by the chapter, and with the built-in “Remixer” users can drag-and-drop content to create their own custom eBook packages.
The Slicebooks publishing platform features tools like a flexible content management system along with the eBook Slicer, Remixer and Micro Store Widgets, all designed to help publishers repurpose content and sell direct to consumers. “We first launched a white label version of the Slicebooks platform in 2016, called loja.pastadoprofessor.com.br”, said Richardt Rocha Feller, CEO of Minha Biblioteca.
“We appreciate how easy Slicebooks makes it to acquire content by the chapter, as well as access custom course packs created by professors, all while respecting copyright. Now, by licensing the code we have a lot more flexibility going forward in terms of adding features our Brazilian clients are asking for, and also easily expanding our efforts beyond academic by targeting new markets such as corporate.”
