The event is marked by the lively opening parade, where floats, folk groups and lots of traditional music run through the streets of Blumenau, kicking off the festivities, with a Brazilian touch. Blumenau’s Oktoberfest elects a queen and princesses to represent the event. The contest is an opportunity to highlight local beauty and culture.

The gastronomy also stands out. During the festival, the “choperias” and gastronomic establishments spread across Parque Vila Germânica offer a true feast of traditional flavors. German sausages, prepared in different ways and accompanied by delicious sauces, the famous pretzels, eisbein (smoked and cooked pork knuckle), sauerkraut and typical sweets, such as strudel.
