The sands of Copacabana Beach, in Rio de Janeiro, welcomed at least 1.6 million people for Madonna’s show. The number was released by Riotur, a tourism company linked to the city hall, and exceeded the initial expectation by 100 thousand. The audience could be considered the largest in the singer’s entire career, as she performed in the country for the fourth time. The last one was 12 years ago.
The show, which concluded the world tour ‘The Celebration’, which celebrates the artist 40 years career, started shortly after 10:30 pm last Saturday (4) and lasted approximately two hours.
Two Brazilian artists – Anitta and Pabllo Vittar – performed alongside the American Star. There were also tributes to other Brazilians such as, Renato Russo, Cazuza, Abdias do Nascimento, Paulo Freire, Pelé, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Marielle Franco, Zumbi dos Palmares, Mano Brown, Erika Hilton, Marta, Cacique Raoni, Maria Bethânia, Daniela Mercury, among others.
Although the singer used play back for most of the performance, the Queen of Pop threw herself into choreographies and entertained the audience.
Her performance in Copacabana became news in the international press, which praised the singer for her last show on the tour and highlighted the crowd who attended the show.
