The Brazilian Photographer Meireles Junior recently launched in New York his latest book: “Supernatural: Impressions on the Lençóis Maranhenses and the Grand Canyon”.

The book explores the charms and mysteries of these two geographically different natural paradises so singular by their grandiosity and stunning beauty.

The idea of producing the book comparing the two places came after a tourist trip the photographer, who is also a native of Maranhão State, made to the Grand Canyon about 3 years ago. “When I arrived I felt the same energy that I feel in the Lençóis Maranhenses. Something else touched me. So I thought: why not gather in the same publication two inhospitable places, immensely beautiful and full of stories to tell?” Says Meireles.

The project resulted not only in a book of images, but also in a documentary of 20 minutes that unveil the making-of of the project. So the book comes with a DVD.
