The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences unveiled this year’s nominations, with Brazil leading the pack with seven nominations, including a best actor nod for Globo TV’s “Rules of the Game”, Alexandre Nero (photo above), a best actress nod for Grazi Massafera (photo above) in “Hidden Truths”, Zorra (The Mess) in the comedy category and “Adotada” for nonscripted entertainment.
Last year, two productions of Globo TV have been awarded the International Emmy. “Empire” took the best novel award and the special “Sweet Mother” won best comedy. Altogether, the TV station has won the International Emmy 14 times.
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences said 40 nominees from 15 countries will compete in 10 categories for the International Emmys, which honors excellence in TV programming outside the United States.
The awards will be presented November 21st at a gala at the Hilton New York Hotel hosted by Alan Cumming.
