In commemoration of International Women’s Month (In March), the Embassy and Consulates of the United States in Brazil announced the name of the seven Brazilian women honored with the “Brazilian Women Making a Difference award 2023”. Their boldness and pioneering spirit in many areas, directly and indirectly reflect the experience, strength, and creativity of these women who have helped transform Brazil way ahead of their time.
“It is an honor to recognize these exceptional Brazilian women for their contributions, hard work, and innovations that are making a difference in their communities and throughout Brazil. As they are recognized with the 2023 Brazilian Women Making a Difference award, I hope these women will inspire and encourage other women to act,” said U.S. Ambassador to Brazil Elizabeth Frawley Bagley.
The award winners work with numerous programs, within the communities in which they live, ranging from environmental rights to civic engagement and advancement of inclusion and rights of indigenous communities, women, LGBTQIA+ and other historically marginalized groups.
