Barretos, city, north-central São Paulo state, Brazil. Known at various times as Amaral dos Barretos, Espírito Santo de Barreto, and Espírito Santo dos Barretos, the settlement was given town status and was made the seat of a municipality in 1885. The site of the state’s biggest cattle market and one of the world’s largest annual rodeos, Barretos also serves an agricultural area producing citrus fruits and other crops. Its industries include meatpacking and the manufacture of shoes, furniture, and farm machinery.

Festival Ranchs: Private properties located inside of Cowboy Park, they present original architectural projects and that reproduce characteristics of constructions of the local area. They are used during the whole year for several types of events.

Rest Point of the Corteges – Garlic Burn: It reproduces the atmosphere of when the cowboys would stop for some rest and stay overnight, presenting rustic constructions that recreate the country mood and they mark the best moments of the long trips done by the corteges, in other words, the moment of the meals, of the music and of the stories of the interiors. In Cortege Resting Point the lunch is served, having as menu, Garlic Burning, a typical cowboy dish constituted of bean (enriched with pig belongings), “carreteiro” rice, crusher made farofa, sautéed green vegetable, pepper and other garrisons that sustained the cowboys in work.

Equine Society “The Independent”: Area reserved for the practice of functional competition, as team roping, calf bow, three drums and bulldog. Visits to the stall, ration room, room of saddles and equipments, besides saddles and equipments, besides bleachers and bar. It offers stay service and training of horses the whole year.

Rodeo Stadium: Larger symbol of the Cowboy Park, projected by Oscar Niemeyer, with 35 thousand seating people of capacity. It is the stage for the accomplishment of the rodeo circuits and of Barretos International Rodeo, besides hosting the megashows accomplished during the Cowboy Festival. Still in the stadium it is programmed a visit to skybox number 1, where the great personalities of the artistic, cultural, political and business world stay, when they visit Barretos during the Rodeo.

Cowboy Memorial: Spaces especially drifted to host events related to the country culture, used for country parties during the whole year. During the visit there is the projection of a documentary on the last Cowboy Festivals, giving the exact dimension of the emotion and magnificence of the Brazil’s most traditional country event.

City Historical Walk: Guided walk by Barretos downtown, visiting Francisco Barreto Square (that has the name of the founder of the city) and, surrounding it, the Ruy Menezes Museum (artistic and folkloric collection), Holy Spirit Cathedral (patron of the city) and Cowboy’s Historical and Folkloric Museum (historical-cultural patrimony of the city). Following, a visit to Paulo de Lima Corrêa Building (first place to host the Cowboy Festival) and the Lakes area (place for the sports practice, encounters and city parties).

Herd Leading – Interactive: One of the high points of the weekend country. This walk is constituted of a herd between two rural properties. The herd is driven by a cortege of authentic cowboys, together with the tourists, all riding horses. In the course of the cowboy road, the tourist will have the opportunity to appreciate several plantation types as sugar cane, coffee, corn, rubber trees and pastures. In the end of the course, a typical country coffee is served, a plentiful meal composed by several typical local dishes; all produced with high quality ingredientsy.

Ranch Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe – Texan Stud Farm: Quarto de Milha horses raising property. Totally built following the patterns of the Texan country architecture.

Horse Riding Training Center “Rodeios Pousada”: Rustic property, with arena and “bretes”, where in the weekends, professional and applicant cowboys develop their mounting techniques in bulls and horses. The tourist will have opportunity to attend well closely the practice of the several mount modalities, knowing and talking with authentic peasants and living the reality of this sporting practice already traditional in Brazil.

Nightlife in a Country Nightclub: In the nightclubs of the social clubs of the city, especially adapted, the night happens to the sound of a lot of music country, country and forró.
