The Brazilian Ministry of the Environment (MMA) is developing a web portal for education and public awareness on climate change, and is inviting society to participate.

The EducaClima portal, which will be launched by the end of this year, will provide information sourced from both government entities and civil society organizations engaged with the issue.

The main sections of the website will feature content on educational and public awareness actions; legislation; publications and websites; courses and events; infographics; and existing institutions. The portal is expected to go live before this year’s United Nations Climate Change Conference, scheduled to take place in November in Bonn, Germany.

The creation of the portal is part of the efforts to fulfill the National Climate Change Policy, specifically its guidelines regarding the dissemination of information, education, training and public awareness on climate change. These guidelines are also contained in the texts of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement, both ratified by Brazil.
