Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo rank 15th and 18th among the cheapest destinations in the world respectively, according to the ranking of the 19 cheapest destinations in the world released by the website Business Insider.

download (15)From the total of foreign tourists visiting Brazil, 50% arrive through Rio and São Paulo. Rio alone received 1.5 million visitors in 2015 and expects to host around 300,000 and 500,000 tourists during the Olympic and Paralympic Games alone. São Paulo, which greeted 2 million tourists in 2015, will host some of the football matches during the Olympics.

The Business Insider ranking takes into account the price of accommodations, meals, beverages and taxis. The average expenditures in Rio tops R$420 (USD117) and in São Paulo, R$ 480 (USD 134).
