BACC TRAVEL

This Wednesday, the Meta platform (Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp) has just launched its newest app. Threads is the microblogging bet that promises to dethrone Twitter.

It’s no secret that since Elon Musk joined Twitter, the platform has been losing many users. Positioned by Meta as “a separate space for real-time information and public conversations,” Threads arrives with a bold proposition. “It’ll take some time, but I think there should be a public conversations app with 1 billion+ people on it,” says Mark in a post. “Twitter has had the opportunity to do this but hasn’t nailed it. Hopefully we will.”

The jabs don’t stop there. The greatest minds in today’s (digital space) technology world have been exchanging blows through posts for some time now. It all started when Elon Musk challenged Mark Zuckerberg to a cage fight. That’s right, outside the virtual world, with none other than Dana White, president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), as the organizer of this battle between giants.

The app, which arrived at the right time to further spice up this battle, will use the same structure as Instagram to facilitate the onboarding of new users and has already gained over 30 million subscribers in just 24 hours.

In addition to posts with 500 characters and videos over 5 minutes long, Threads has no limits on posting and no content viewing restrictions, which has been one of the main reasons users are abandoning Twitter. Provocation?

According to The Wall Street Journal, a Twitter attorney sent a letter to Meta raising concerns about possible “misappropriation” of the new app. It was also alleged that Meta had hired Twitter employees with the aim of obtaining trade secrets or intellectual property.

Andy Stone, Meta spokesperson, responded to the matter on Threads, stating: “No member of the Threads engineering team is a former Twitter employee – that is simply not true.”

With this new app in play, no matter which side you’re on, this entertainment showdown is something you won’t want to miss – both online and offline. Everything indicates that the fight will take place in the Las Vegas octagon, and according to White, the physical battle is approaching, with the main details already outlined.
